Les Miles on the 2006 recruiting class

I hope LSU succeeds under Les Miles. I really do. But, dammit, I just think the guy”s a moron.

Leslie”s quotes in The Advocate (the Baton Rouge daily, not the national gay newspaper), about the 2006 class – a pretty darn good one, by the way – are typical Lesliebabble:

“What happens with he (Woods) and Charles Deas is the center of our defense, for quite some time, will be a difficult place to gain yards,” Miles said.

“It’s nice to pick up a guy that has the ability it would appear to play and play early,” Miles said of Deas. “When you’re in the back end with three great players like that you don’t expect to get every one. Certainly that’s what your hope is.”

“Whether it’s the fifth-ranked class or the second-ranked class or the 16th-ranked class is not the issue,” Miles said. “The issue is the success that’s gone on before them, the legacy of winning, and the opportunity to do one better. I believe this class is what we need. I’m excited about the class.”

Of course, the story was apparently written by a high-school journalism student (go ahead, read the first few paragraphs – I”ll wait …), so it could be that Leslie was actually very eloquent and inspiring in his comments and they were just munged by the writer.

But somehow I doubt that.

With recruiting season over, however, Leslie can turn his attention back to developing version 2.0 of his Madonna-style headset and figuring out how to get seven men on the line of scrimmage.
