The former owner of our house got catalogs from an outfit called Frontgate, which apparently specializes in helping newly-rich people feel like they”re from old-money families.
The catalogs kept coming to the house after we moved in, and I have to admit – I bought something from them. What I bought is actually pretty cool, though. It”s a rug for the kitchen that looks like old food ads. Like this, but it”s not a runner:

Anyway, thanks to this one purchase, I”m now on the list for Frontgate and its sister catalogs that peddle fancy outdoor furniture and the like.
Pretty much all Frontgate stuff is aimed at making people feel wealthier and classier than they actually are, but one item in the latest catalog really raises the bar on their faux-class chic:
Faux Book Panels

That”s right. With Frontgate”s Faux Book Panels, you can not only appear to be a collector of old books; you also get much-needed space to hide your collection of America”s Funniest Home Videos DVDs.
